On 17th of April two first stages of FIM Junior Moto3 took place in Valencia, Circuito Ricardo Tormo. Makar Yurchenko qualified 7th. In the first race of the championship Yurchenko crossed the finish line on the 6th position, and during the 2nd race went into the fight for the 3rd place. On the last lap Makar unexpectedly lost the front – it made him loose 2 positions and he finished the race 5th. However, due to the penalization of one of the riders, Yurchenko gained 1 position. As a result – the 4th position for Makar in the 2nd race FIM Junior Moto3 and 23 points in the overall standings after 2 stages of the championship.
Makar Yurchenko: “In both races I had a good start and I am happy of this – before I had troubles with starts. And it seems that we’ve solved this problem already (laughing). During the first laps of the race 1 I didn’t have enough confidence and I’ve lost few positions. But then I’ve found my rythm, recuperated positions and came to the finish line 6th, as a leader of the second group – but this was not enough for us as we would like to be in the leading group.
During the 2nd race I also got a good start and won some positions. The last laps I was riding third, but I made a sad mistake – on the turn 11th I lost the front tyre and gave a preference to other 2 riders. In any way, I came to the finish line 4th and I am happy for the job. I am glad for the result and excited for my team Procercasa 42Motorsport! I would like to thank everybody for support, people who helped me to be here, especially Sokol Racetrack. We will push more during next races!”
Alex Rins commented on the races: “I am excited to be the part of a big Procercasa 42Motorsport family. All young riders are very excited for to learn and to be on the podium. Makar is a very talented rider, he’ve learnt a lot – he made a big step comparing to the previous season. And we will see what happens because, step by step, he goes to his dream.”
