September, 17th. FIM CEV Repsol took a trip to Circuito de Jerez, for 6th stage of FIM Junior Moto3 Championship. Makar Yurchenko (Reale Avintia Academy) got his second podium for this season, finishing 3rd, with his team-mate Vicente Perez, at the 2nd place.
Makar Yurchenko: “In general, I am satisfied with the result. We worked hard with the team all weekend, I felt confident on the track and showed good speed during practices. Unfortunately, I suffered problems with engine during Q1 and I lost the opportunity to set my best lap during the qualification, so I had to come back to boxes, and on Sunday to start from the 14th place. The main task during races was to catch the leading group as soon as possible – from 14th place it’s never easy. In the first race I managed to get ahead, but because of the struggle within the tough group, it was impossible to catch up with the leaders. In the second race, the pace was a bit slower, so a huge leading group was formed. Overtaking was given hard – all the riders were breaking late and the second race was in a constant struggle for positions. But on the last lap luck was on our side. I took my 3rd podium position with my team-mate on 2nd place. This is a perfect ending to such a difficult race! Thanks to Sokol Racetrack for support!”
