FIM CEV Repsol Junior Moto3: Makar Yurchenko finished 6th in Montmelo

On the 4th round of FIM CEV Repsol Junior Moto3 Championship at Circuit de Montmelo, Makar Yurchenko made his way to the 6th position after having started from the 24th place on the grid!

4th stage of FIM CEV Repsol Junior Moto3 Championship in Montmelo went red with the flags. Makar Yurchenko had to climb up from the 24th position on the grid to the leading groups during both races, trying to avoid crashes of other riders in front of him. Showing a great rhythm Yurchenko caught up with the leading group after the first laps race 1 and managed to finish on the 6th position after 24th start on the grid.

Second race was stopped 3 laps before with a red flag due to severe crash. The final results were set up with the standings a lap before – Yurchenko got 11th position.

Makar Yurchenko: “I liked the new track configuration in Montmelo. Despite the fact it is a bit slower now, it became more technical, with lots of turns. During free practices we were working hard for the bike settings but we didn’t manage to find ones we liked. After an awful qualifying where I set 24th time, we decided to change the settings totally – and the next day on the Warm-Up session I was already in the Top-5 group.

Both races were red-flagged. First race was only 10 laps, and from the very start I started to climb up, so I finished 6th. Second race was stopped 3 laps before the end. And it is sad for me because I was going 9th and I felt I could show better result. But everything was stopped so suddenly , so I got 11th position in the race standings. Obviously, if I could start in Top-10 I won’t have to struggle that much during races. Qualifying is very important and we will try to work harder in Albacete to set a good speed from the very beginning!”
